I Invite you to Step In ....
”Remember, the most important thing you own, and the most important relationship you will ever have, is the one you have with your body.”
Debbie Rosas founder of the Nia Technique ®
Nia is a feel-good, fitness movement programme which combines the precision and power of the martial arts, the expressiveness and fun of the dance arts, and the nurturing and spiritual qualities of the healing arts. This profound synergy is designed to address every aspect of your being - body, mind, emotions and soul.
Nia is practiced barefoot and each session brings mindfulness to your movement experience leaving you energised, mentally clear and emotionally balanced. Through simple, fun choreography and fabulous music from a wide range of genres, Nia invites you to listen to the sensations and voices of your body to guide your movements with joy, comfort, pleasure and ease. If it doesn't feel good, don't do it! We call this following YOUR body's way. By doing so, you honour your personal fitness needs and abilities so you can work as intensely or as gently as you wish. This non-impact and safe method, working with the body's intelligent design, makes Nia a long-lasting and sustainable movement practice, adaptable to all ages, levels of fitness and health.
Each Nia session typically involves a warm up, get moving to condition the whole body and nervous system, Free Dance, cooling down and floorPlay. Visualisation, imagination and playfulness is actively encouraged to increase your joy!
We believe that each person can discover, explore and unleash their individual potential to live a healthy and meaningful life by engaging their senses and listening to their bodies - moving to their body's way and having fun along the way.
“I’m loving the sessions, it’s such a lovely warm feeling in the body afterwards and noticing the energy shift. So much fun :)”
